Minimum Requirements For Patrol Officer

Minimum Age: Twenty-One (21)
Citizenship: United States
Drivers License: Valid Texas Class A, B or C license
Driving Record:   No traffic citations within the past twelve (12) months and no more than two (2) traffic citations within the past five (5) years. This requirement may be waived on an individual basis.
Education:     High school graduate or GED. Must possess or be eligible for a Peace Officer license at the time of hiring. Meet minimum standards of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education.        
Criminal History:  No previous felony convictions. No previous DWI convictions. No convictions for any Class A or B misdemeanors within the past ten (10) years. Meet minimum standards of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education for license eligibility.
Health:  Must be physically and mentally capable of performing the proscribed job duties of a Peace Officer and pass medical and psychological examinations as required by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education. Must pass drug screen.
Background: Investigation must show that you possess a stable, high moral character with the ability to interact positively in both social and work-related settings. This means that contact will be made with listed references as well as neighbors, educators, employers and co-workers.
Interview:  Must submit to an oral interview board of a composition designated by the Chief of Police and receive a positive rating.
* Must have already passed Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education  examination.
Note 1: Any falsification or intentional deletion of disqualifying information on the written application will automatically disqualify an applicant.
